Declaration 0007/2013 directed to the danger from RTB in Europe

On 15April 2013 year in the European Parliament was introduced Declaration 0007/2013 directed to the danger from Resistant Tuberculosis /RTB/ in the European Region. “Dose of love” Association supports the declaration, in front of Bulgarian members of the European Parliament to sign it.

Although, Tuberculosis is curable disease, in the European Region at every 1 hour dies 7 people because of TB. Europe is not exception – World Health Organization /WHO/ reported 76 000 cases of Multidrug Resistant Tuberculosis /MDR TB/ in European Region for 2011 year. These numbers are only a quarter of global cases of TB. 15 from 27 countries in the world, which are severely affected from MDR TB are from European Region and include 5 EU-members, as Romania, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Latvia.

According to official statistics from Ministry of Health, in Bulgaria TB prevalence is 26.8/100 000 people for 2012 year.  In the same year, all of registered TB cases in the country are 2 281 people. Still, there are large numbers for Latent TB, in which person has the Tuberculosis bacterium but symptoms are invisible.

The expecting confirmation of the Declaration is on June 11, 2013 year.
